About the register

Ministry of Industry and Trade

Known locally as وزارة الصناعة والتجارة.

Yemen's commercial register operates under the Republican Decree Law No. 33 of 1991 on the Commercial Register (القرار الجمهوري بالقانون رقم 33 لسنة 1991م بشأن السجل التجاري), which provides for commercial register offices to be established by ministerial decision in governorate capitals and other areas. Company registration is administered through the Ministry of Industry and Trade, whose commerce services grant commercial register entries to businesses, register domestic companies on the basis of the founding deed (عقد التأسيس) and articles of association (النظام الأساسي), and register the branches and agencies of foreign companies.

The register is public by law. Any person may obtain, against the prescribed fee, an extract of the recorded data of any registrant, or a certificate confirming that no registration exists, and may consult the data and documents held at the register office. Registrants must cite their commercial register number and trade name on correspondence, publications and premises. The Commercial Companies Law No. 22 of 1997 (قانون رقم 22 لسنة 1997م بشأن الشركات التجارية) governs partnerships, limited partnerships, silent partnerships, joint-stock companies, partnerships limited by shares and limited liability companies.
