About the register

Ministry of National Economy

Known locally as وزارة الاقتصاد الوطني.

Companies in Palestine are registered with the Ministry of National Economy (وزارة الاقتصاد الوطني), where the Companies Registrar (مسجل الشركات) keeps the companies register. The ministry's own guidance names it the reference authority for registering companies, and registration is carried out at the ministry's headquarters or at its directorates in the governorates. An application begins with a name check and reservation, the proposed name being checked across the trade names register, the companies register and the trademarks register; the company's memorandum and internal bylaws are then filed in signed copies, and the ministry issues a certificate of registration.

The governing statute is the Decision by Law No. 42 of 2021 on Companies (قرار بقانون رقم 42 لسنة 2021 بشأن الشركات), in force from 1 April 2022. Under its Article 339, companies registered before the law had two years from that date to bring their memoranda and internal bylaws into conformity, a period the Companies Registrar announced as ending on 1 April 2024. The ministry has also presented, through a World Bank supported project, work on a unified electronic company registration system, and its website links a companies portal (بوابة الشركات) alongside downloadable registration forms.
