Official company records for Martinique, on demand

Martinique is a French overseas department, so companies there are registered in the French national system, not in a separate territorial register. Since 1 January 2023 every business operating on French territory files its creation, amendment and cessation formalities through the single electronic window and is entered in the Registre national des entreprises (RNE), operated by INPI, the Institut national de la propriété industrielle. The RNE brought the former national trade and companies, trades and agricultural registers together into one national record.

The registre du commerce et des sociétés (RCS) continues alongside the RNE for commercial companies, held locally by the court greffe. In the overseas departments the commercial jurisdiction is the tribunal mixte de commerce, whose greffe is held by a commercial court greffier; for Martinique that court sits at Fort-de-France, listed in the justice ministry's directory. The extract issued from the RCS is the official proof of a company's registration and identifies its officers.

Registered businesses are identified by the nine-digit SIREN number, assigned once by INSEE and never reused, and each establishment by a fourteen-digit SIRET; INSEE's Sirene repertoire expressly covers the overseas departments. Beneficial owners are declared to the French register of beneficial owners, access to which has been limited since 31 July 2024 to supervisory authorities, persons subject to anti-money-laundering obligations and persons demonstrating a legitimate interest.
