About the register

Central Business Register (CVR)

Known locally as Det Centrale Virksomhedsregister (CVR).

Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, with self-government since 2009, and Greenlandic businesses are registered in the Central Business Register (CVR) kept by the Danish Business Authority (Erhvervsstyrelsen). Registration runs through the authority's self-service on the Virk platform, and a Greenlandic business receives a CVR number when it is registered.

Danish business regulation does not apply of its own force to companies seated in Greenland; large parts of the legal basis are put into force by royal decrees (anordninger) and apply with the necessary adaptations. The Danish Companies Act was put into force for Greenland by royal decree no. 486 of 14 May 2018, as amended by decree no. 2624 of 28 December 2021.

Ownership sits on the public record. Under the Greenland executive order on registration and publication of owner information (no. 2704 of 28 December 2021), a Greenlandic company registers its significant shareholders (legal owners) and its beneficial owners (reelle ejere) in the Business Authority's IT system, and the registered details are published there. Exemption from publication in the Central Business Register is reserved for extraordinary circumstances, such as a concrete risk of fraud, abduction, extortion, violence or intimidation, or where the beneficial owner is a minor. Can I get shareholders and beneficial owners?
Yes. This register publishes shareholder and beneficial-owner data, and the record includes it with the ownership chain resolved. The chain is our own work: registers file shareholdings, not the resolved ownership behind them.
How current is the information?
It is retrieved from the register at the time of purchase, so it reflects the register's current state — not a cached copy.
Do I need a subscription or a contract?

Which register covers Greenlandic companies?

Does Danish company law apply in Greenland?
Not directly. The Virk guidance states that Danish business regulation does not apply of its own force to companies seated in Greenland, but that large parts of the legal basis have been put into force by royal decrees and apply with the necessary adaptations.
