About the register

Finnish Patent and Registration Office

Known locally as Patentti- ja rekisterihallitus (PRH).

Finnish company records are kept in the Trade Register (kaupparekisteri) at the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH). The register's public window is the Virre Information Service, where basic details of businesses and foundations can be searched free of charge and electronic Trade Register extracts can be downloaded at no cost. Documents such as articles of association and registered financial statements can be bought and downloaded from the same service, and extracts covering earlier periods are available back to the company's registration.

Every business is identified by a Business ID (Y-tunnus) of seven digits, a dash and a control mark, for example 1234567-8. The ID is issued by the PRH or the Tax Administration and recorded in the Business Information System at ytj.fi, which the two authorities maintain jointly. Limited liability companies and cooperatives must file their financial statements with the Trade Register on time.

Beneficial owner details are filed to the Trade Register as well, but they are not public. Extracts of beneficial owner information are released only for purposes provided in the Finnish Act on Money Laundering: in practice to supervisory authorities, to obliged entities such as banks and insurers with customer due diligence duties, and to other parties whose use of the details complies with that Act.

Yes. Every record is sourced from the official register, Finnish Patent and Registration Office, at the moment you buy. It is registry data only — nothing aggregated, resold, or editorialised.
What exactly is a "Company Record"?
Two things in one purchase: the KYB report (company data and controlling parties — this register does not publish shareholders or beneficial owners) and the standard set of official registry documents needed for AML and KYB compliance.
Can I get additional filing documents?
Every record includes the standard document set for AML and KYB compliance. The official register holds further filings — listed above under "Available separately" — and if you need one beyond the standard set, contact us and we'll arrange it.
Does the record include shareholders and beneficial owners?
The official register does not make shareholder or beneficial-owner data public, so a record cannot include what the register does not publish. The company particulars and controlling parties it does hold are included.
How current is the information?
It is retrieved from the register at the time of purchase, so it reflects the register's current state — not a cached copy.
Do I need a subscription or a contract?

What is a Finnish Trade Register extract?
It is a summary of a company's current registered details held in the Trade Register at the Finnish Patent and Registration Office. Electronic extracts can be downloaded free of charge from the Virre Information Service, and extracts covering earlier periods are available back to the company's registration. What is a Business ID (Y-tunnus)?
It is the identifier assigned to every Finnish business and organisation, consisting of seven digits, a dash and a control mark, for example 1234567-8. It is issued by the Finnish Patent and Registration Office or the Tax Administration and recorded in the Business Information System at ytj.fi, which the two maintain jointly.
Are Finnish financial statements available from the Trade Register?
Yes. Limited liability companies and cooperatives must file their financial statements with the Trade Register on time, and a company's financial statement documents can be bought and downloaded through the Virre Information Service.
Is beneficial ownership information public in Finland?
No. Company representatives and the beneficial owners themselves can access their own details, but anyone else can obtain beneficial owner information only for purposes provided in the Finnish Act on Money Laundering, which in practice means supervisory authorities and obliged entities with customer due diligence duties, such as banks and insurers. Beneficial owner details therefore sit outside the public record.
