Official company records for China, on demand

China's public record of companies is the National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System (国家企业信用信息公示系统), the national platform organised by the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and reachable at gsxt.gov.cn. Registration itself is handled by SAMR and the local market regulation administrations, and the publicity system is the official, free-of-charge channel for checking what they have registered.

The system operates under the Interim Regulations on Enterprise Information Publicity, in force since 1 October 2014. For each enterprise it publishes registration and filing information, movable-asset mortgage registrations, equity pledge registrations and administrative penalties. Enterprises must also submit an annual report for publication, and for companies that report includes the subscribed and paid-in capital contributions of each shareholder, with the amount, timing and method of contribution.

Every registered enterprise carries an 18-character Unified Social Credit Code composed of digits and capital letters. The code encodes the registering authority, the entity type, the administrative division and a nine-character entity identifier, and ends with a check character. It is assigned once, stays unchanged for the life of the entity, and since 1 October 2015 has replaced the separate business licence, organisation code and tax registration numbers under the 'one licence, one code' reform.
