Official company records for Cayman Islands, on demand

The companies register of the Cayman Islands is maintained by the General Registry, a Cayman Islands Government department, with the Registrar of Companies (ROC) responsible for the companies function. Companies are formed under the Companies Act (As Revised); resident companies carrying on business locally are additionally subject to the Local Companies (Control) Act. The register spans several company types, including ordinary resident and non-resident companies, exempted companies (for activities carried on mainly outside the jurisdiction), foundation companies, limited liability companies, special economic zone companies, unlimited companies and overseas (foreign) companies.

Public access is narrower than in many onshore registers. The register of members is not available from the Registrar: every company except an exempted company must keep its register of members open to inspection at its registered office, so exempted companies' member registers are not open to public inspection at all. The Registrar is, however, required to make available the list of names of a company's current directors, and a company's status can be confirmed through a search report or a certificate of existence. Companies must keep a register of directors and officers at their registered office, send a copy to the Registrar within sixty days of the first appointment and notify changes within thirty days.

Certificates of good standing, incorporation, existence and incumbency are issued through the Registry's online channels (CBP for local companies, CORIS and CAP for licensed corporate services providers), and Cayman companies are required by law to maintain and file beneficial ownership information.
