About the register

Companies Registry, Registrar General's Department

The Companies Registry of Trinidad and Tobago is maintained by the Registrar General's Department, part of the Office of the Registrar General under the Ministry of Land and Legal Affairs. Companies are incorporated and regulated under the Companies Act, Chapter 81:01, and the Registry also records business names, external (overseas) companies and non-profit organisations.

Since 1 February 2023 the Registry has operated the Companies Registry Online System (CROS), an electronic platform for submitting documents to the Registry and searching the public record. Through a Companies Registry Account, users can search and reserve names, incorporate companies, register business names, external companies and non-profit organisations, file annual returns, record changes of directors, secretaries and addresses, and submit beneficial ownership filings. Opening an account requires identity verification under the Department's know-your-customer checks before login credentials are issued.

Every company on the register must file an annual return (Form 28) with the Registrar within 30 days of the anniversary of its incorporation, continuance or amalgamation. The Registrar also publishes compliance notices, including lists of companies facing removal from the register under the strike-off provisions of the Companies Act.

Good to know

Trinidad and Tobago company records — questions

Are these official records?
Yes. Every record is sourced from the official register, Registrar General's Department, at the moment you buy. It is registry data only — nothing aggregated, resold, or editorialised.
What exactly is a "Company Record"?
Two things in one purchase: the KYB report (company data as filed — this register does not publish controlling parties, shareholders or beneficial owners) and the standard set of official registry documents needed for AML and KYB compliance.
Can I get additional filing documents?
Every record includes the standard document set for AML and KYB compliance. If you need a document beyond that set, contact us and we'll find out whether the register holds it.
Does the record include shareholders and beneficial owners?
The official register does not make shareholder or beneficial-owner data public, so a record cannot include what the register does not publish. The company particulars it does hold are included.
How current is the information?
It is retrieved from the register at the time of purchase, so it reflects the register's current state — not a cached copy.
Do I need a subscription or a contract?
No. Buy a single record with a card. There is no subscription and no minimum.
What is CROS?
CROS is the Companies Registry Online System, launched by the Registrar General's Department on 1 February 2023. It allows registered account holders to submit documents electronically, including incorporations, annual returns, changes of directors and secretaries, and beneficial ownership filings, and to run name and public record searches. Account holders must first pass the Department's identity verification.
Do Trinidad and Tobago companies file annual returns?
Yes. Under the Companies Act, Chapter 81:01, every company on the register must file an annual return (Form 28) with the Registrar within 30 days of the anniversary of its incorporation, continuance or amalgamation. Returns can be filed electronically through CROS. The Company Records report for Trinidad and Tobago is a Registry Extract sourced from the Registrar General's Department.
How do I search for a company in Trinidad and Tobago?
The Registrar General's Department offers a public record search through CROS, its online system. Searching requires a Companies Registry Account, which involves identity verification before credentials are issued. The Company Records report provides the registry's record for a named company without the buyer needing their own CROS account.
Which law governs companies in Trinidad and Tobago?
Companies are incorporated and regulated under the Companies Act, Chapter 81:01. The Act also provides for annual returns, for the registration of external companies, and for the Registrar to remove non-compliant companies from the register.
