About the register

Anguilla Commercial Registry

Anguilla, a UK overseas territory, keeps its own commercial register through the Commercial Registry, a department of the Anguilla Financial Services Commission (AFSC), the licensing and regulatory body for the financial services industry in the territory. A Registrar of Companies heads company registration, and the registry's remit spans companies, foundations, intellectual property and liquidation notices.

Electronic filing goes back decades. ACORN, the registry's online registration system, went live on 16 November 1998 and allows registered users to submit electronically the documents that otherwise require physical filing, with the certificate of incorporation appearing on screen immediately on submission. ACORN is not a public access system: use is limited to licensed company managers and trust companies acting as registered agents.

In April 2022 Anguilla launched the Commercial Registration Electronic System (CRES), enabled through the Commercial Registry and Beneficial Ownership Registration System Act, 2022. CRES comprises the Customer Due Diligence Register, the Beneficial Ownership Register and the Commercial Registry, handles business companies, limited liability companies, limited partnerships, foundations, trusts and segregated portfolio companies, and offers a public search for publicly available documents. Shareholder and beneficial-owner data is not part of what the register makes public. The Company Records report for Anguilla provides the registry extract sourced from the official register.

What is CRES and how does it differ from ACORN?
CRES, the Commercial Registration Electronic System, is the modernised system Anguilla launched in April 2022 under the Commercial Registry and Beneficial Ownership Registration System Act, 2022. It comprises the Customer Due Diligence Register, the Beneficial Ownership Register and the Commercial Registry, and it is accessed by licensed trust and service providers, competent authorities and the public to conduct searches and request publicly available documents.
Does the Anguillan register publish beneficial ownership?
CRES includes a Beneficial Ownership Register established under the 2022 Act, but shareholder and beneficial-owner data is not part of what the register makes public.
