About the register

Internet Registry Office (Supreme Court of Korea)

Known locally as 인터넷등기소.

South Korea keeps its company register inside the court system. Legal-entity registration is a judicial registry service, and the Supreme Court's internet-based registration services, introduced between 2003 and 2007, allow registry records to be accessed online without visiting a court. The public gateway is the Internet Registry Office (인터넷등기소) at iros.go.kr, and since 2023 electronic registration certificates can be issued in PDF format and submitted to recipient authorities through an electronic document wallet.

Corporate disclosure lives in a separate system. DART, the Data Analysis, Retrieval and Transfer System operated by the Financial Supervisory Service, is the electronic disclosure repository through which companies submit filings that become immediately available to investors, including annual and semi-annual reports, audit reports and major shareholding reports for issuers on the KOSPI, KOSDAQ and KONEX markets.

For compliance work the two systems answer different questions: the court registry holds a company's registered particulars, while DART carries the disclosure record of listed and reporting companies, and major shareholding reports are filed there. The Company Records report for South Korea includes a Registry Extract and a List of Major Stockholders.

Good to know

South Korea company records — questions

Are these official records?
Yes. Every record is sourced from the official register, Internet Registry Office (Supreme Court of Korea), at the moment you buy. It is registry data only — nothing aggregated, resold, or editorialised.
What exactly is a "Company Record"?
Two things in one purchase: the KYB report (company data, controlling parties, shareholders and beneficial owners) and the standard set of official registry documents needed for AML and KYB compliance.
Can I get additional filing documents?
Every record includes the standard document set for AML and KYB compliance. If you need a document beyond that set, contact us and we'll find out whether the register holds it.
Can I get shareholders and beneficial owners?
Yes. This register publishes shareholder and beneficial-owner data, and the record includes it with the ownership chain resolved. The chain is our own work: registers file shareholdings, not the resolved ownership behind them.
How current is the information?
It is retrieved from the register at the time of purchase, so it reflects the register's current state — not a cached copy.
Do I need a subscription or a contract?
No. Buy a single record with a card. There is no subscription and no minimum.
Who maintains the company register in South Korea?
Legal-entity registration in South Korea is administered through the court system rather than a ministry or chamber of commerce. The Supreme Court's internet-based registration services make registry records available online, with the Internet Registry Office (인터넷등기소) at iros.go.kr as the public portal. The Registry Extract in the Company Records report for South Korea reflects the company's registered particulars.
What is DART?
DART, the Data Analysis, Retrieval and Transfer System, is the electronic disclosure system operated by the Financial Supervisory Service. Companies submit disclosures online and they become immediately available to investors and other users, covering annual and semi-annual reports, audit reports and major shareholding reports for issuers on the KOSPI, KOSDAQ and KONEX markets. It is a disclosure repository, distinct from the court-held commercial register.
Where does shareholder information on a Korean company come from?
For issuers on the KOSPI, KOSDAQ and KONEX markets, shareholding information is disclosed through DART filings such as annual reports and major shareholding reports. The Company Records report for South Korea includes a List of Major Stockholders alongside the Registry Extract.
Can Korean corporate registry records be obtained online?
Yes. The Supreme Court's registration services have allowed registry records to be accessed online since the mid-2000s, with mobile access to legal-entity registration records added in 2012. Since 2023, electronic registration certificates in PDF format can be issued and submitted to recipient authorities through an electronic document wallet.
