About the register

Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan

Companies in Pakistan are incorporated with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), whose registrar function operates through Company Registration Offices (CROs). Incorporation is governed by the Companies Act, 2017, with procedure detailed in the Companies Regulations, 2024. SECP describes the incorporation process as digitised end to end through its eZfile portal, and a company name search is available to the public through its eServices site.

Every company, including a foreign company, is assigned a CUIN, a sequential computer-generated unique identification number that replaced the earlier office-by-office company registration numbers. Statutory returns filed by a company become part of the company record maintained by the registrar concerned, and SECP guidance describes that record as open to inspection by the general public, with copies of documents available on payment of the prescribed fee. Annual returns give general information about a company, including its officers, registered office address, shareholders and share capital.

Under section 123A of the Companies Act, 2017, companies declare their ultimate beneficial owners on statutory Form 45, which SECP has made available for online submission through its eServices portal alongside the requirement for companies to maintain ultimate beneficial ownership information. The Company Records report for Pakistan includes the Company Profile sourced from the official register.

Every record includes the standard document set for AML and KYB compliance. The official register holds further filings — listed above under "Available separately" — and if you need one beyond the standard set, contact us and we'll arrange it.
Can I get shareholders and beneficial owners?
Yes. This register publishes shareholder and beneficial-owner data, and the record includes it with the ownership chain resolved. The chain is our own work: registers file shareholdings, not the resolved ownership behind them.
How current is the information?
It is retrieved from the register at the time of purchase, so it reflects the register's current state — not a cached copy.
Do I need a subscription or a contract?

Who keeps the company register in Pakistan?
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, through its Company Registration Offices, registers companies under the Companies Act, 2017 and the Companies Regulations, 2024. Name reservation and incorporation run through the eZfile portal, and SECP publishes promoters' guides and manuals for the process.
What is a CUIN?
The CUIN is a sequential computer-generated unique identification number assigned to every company registered in Pakistan, including foreign companies. It replaced the earlier company registration numbers that were issued separately by each Company Registration Office.
Can Pakistani company records be searched and inspected?
SECP provides a public company name search through its eServices site, and its guidance describes the company record held by the registrar concerned as open to inspection by the general public, with certified copies of specific documents available on payment of the prescribed fee.
Does the register hold beneficial ownership information?
Companies declare their ultimate beneficial owners to the registrar on Form 45 under section 123A of the Companies Act, 2017, and maintain ultimate beneficial ownership information, which SECP describes as aimed at determining the true owners of a company. SECP's materials describe the filing requirement and do not describe public access to Form 45 declarations. The Company Records report resolves beneficial ownership by following the registered shareholders up the ownership chain, entity by entity, from official filings.
