What you receive

A Company Record is two things delivered together — the verified report and the official documents behind it, for one price.

The KYB report

The company, verified from the source

Company particulars and the people in control, retrieved at the moment you buy from the official register, Brønnøysundregistrene. This register does not publish shareholder or beneficial-owner data, so a record for Norway cannot include it.

  • Registered company data & status
  • Directors, officers & controlling parties
  • Shareholders & beneficial owners — not published by this register
The registry filings

The official documents on file

Every record comes with the standard set of registry documents needed for AML and KYB compliance — the official filings, straight from the source register.

  • The standard AML & KYB compliance document set
  • Official copies, straight from the register
  • Further filings on the register — available on request

About the register

Brønnøysund Register Centre

Known locally as Brønnøysundregistrene.

Norwegian company information is held by the Brønnøysund Register Centre (Brønnøysundregistrene), the government agency that runs the national business registers: the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities, the Register of Business Enterprises (Foretaksregisteret), the Register of Company Accounts and the Register of Beneficial Owners, among others. Every registered enterprise is assigned a 9-digit organisation number whose final digit is a check digit; the number is the key to the enterprise's registered information and must appear on its business documents.

The Register of Business Enterprises, established in 1988 to replace more than 100 local trade registers, records Norwegian and foreign enterprises doing business in Norway, and most of the information it holds is public. Registration provides legal protection of the business name and a certificate of registration confirming the registration and who is responsible for the business. Annual accounts are filed with the Register of Company Accounts, and accounts from the past 14 years can be ordered from the Centre's webshop.

Beneficial ownership works differently. Organisations must submit beneficial owner information to the Register of Beneficial Owners within 14 days of being registered or of a change, but there is no open public search: data is released through a machine interface to eligible users, and only public authorities can access the register's total inventory or search using a national identity number.

Good to know

Norway company records — questions

Are these official records?
Yes. Every record is sourced from the official register, Brønnøysundregistrene, at the moment you buy. It is registry data only — nothing aggregated, resold, or editorialised.
What exactly is a "Company Record"?
Two things in one purchase: the KYB report (company data and controlling parties — this register does not publish shareholders or beneficial owners) and the standard set of official registry documents needed for AML and KYB compliance.
Can I get additional filing documents?
Every record includes the standard document set for AML and KYB compliance. The official register holds further filings — listed above under "Available separately" — and if you need one beyond the standard set, contact us and we'll arrange it.
Does the record include shareholders and beneficial owners?
The official register does not make shareholder or beneficial-owner data public, so a record cannot include what the register does not publish. The company particulars and controlling parties it does hold are included.
How current is the information?
It is retrieved from the register at the time of purchase, so it reflects the register's current state — not a cached copy.
Do I need a subscription or a contract?
No. Buy a single record with a card. There is no subscription and no minimum.
What is a Norwegian organisation number?
It is a 9-digit identifier assigned when an enterprise is registered in the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities, with the final digit acting as a check digit calculated by modulus 11. The number is the key to the enterprise's registered information at the Brønnøysund Register Centre and must appear in its business documents. The Company Records report for Norway is retrieved against this number and includes the Registry Extract and Certificate.
Are Norwegian annual accounts public?
Yes. Annual accounts are filed with the Register of Company Accounts at the Brønnøysund Register Centre, and accounts from the past 14 years are available from the webshop, with older years available by phone order. The Company Records report for Norway includes the company's Annual Accounts.
Is beneficial ownership information public in Norway?
Only partially. Registration in the Register of Beneficial Owners is compulsory, with a 14-day deadline after registration or after a change, but access runs through a machine interface for users meeting eligibility criteria, such as entities with duties under the Money Laundering Act, public authorities, media and researchers. Only public authorities can access the register's total inventory or search using a national identity number.
What does a Norwegian certificate of registration show?
It confirms that a business is registered in the Register of Business Enterprises, shows who is responsible for the business, and serves as identification towards lenders, customers and suppliers. Certificates of registration and register transcripts are issued by the Brønnøysund Register Centre. The Certificate in the Company Records report for Norway is sourced from this register.
