About the register

Central Trade Register (OMPIC)

Known locally as Registre central du commerce (OMPIC).

Morocco's commercial register is organised by the Code de Commerce (loi 15-95) in two tiers. Article 27 constitutes it from local registers and a central register, held together through the electronic trade register introduced by loi 89-17 and operated via the electronic platform created by loi 88-17. Each local register is kept by the registry (secretariat-greffe) of the competent court, supervised by the court's president or a designated judge, while article 31 places the central register with the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC).

The central register is public and is consulted through that electronic platform. It centralises, for the whole Kingdom, the information entered in the local registers, issues certificates relating to traders' names, commercial denominations and shop signs, and publishes an annual compendium of them. A company's registration declares, among other particulars, its denomination, purpose and activity, head office and branches, legal form, capital, the persons authorised to administer, manage and sign for it, the names of associates other than shareholders and limited partners, and the deposit of its statutes with the court registry. Any person may obtain a certified copy or extract of the entries, or a certificate that no entry exists.

The particulars the Code de Commerce lists for registration do not include a beneficial-owner category. The Company Records report resolves beneficial ownership by following the registered shareholders up the ownership chain from official filings. Can I get additional filing documents?
Every record includes the standard document set for AML and KYB compliance. The official register holds further filings — listed above under "Available separately" — and if you need one beyond the standard set, contact us and we'll arrange it.
Can I get shareholders and beneficial owners?
Yes. This register publishes shareholder and beneficial-owner data, and the record includes it with the ownership chain resolved. The chain is our own work: registers file shareholdings, not the resolved ownership behind them.
How current is the information?
It is retrieved from the register at the time of purchase, so it reflects the register's current state — not a cached copy.
Do I need a subscription or a contract?

Who keeps the commercial register in Morocco?
Two bodies share it. Under article 28 of the Code de Commerce each local register is kept by the secretariat-greffe of the competent court, supervised by the court's president or a designated judge, and under article 31 the central trade register is kept by the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC). Both are held through the electronic trade register operated via the platform created by loi 88-17.
What does a Moroccan company declare when it registers?
Article 45 of the Code de Commerce requires the declaration of the denomination and its negative certificate, the corporate purpose and the activity actually carried on, the head office and any branches, the legal form, the capital, the names of associates other than shareholders and limited partners, the persons authorised to administer, manage and sign for the company, the company's duration, and the date and number of the deposit of the statutes with the court registry. Article 46 adds managers and members of the administrative, management or executive bodies appointed during the life of the company.
Can anyone consult the Moroccan commercial register?
Yes. Article 32 of the Code de Commerce makes the central register public, consulted through the electronic business-creation platform, and article 29 entitles any person to a certified copy or extract of the entries in the commercial register, or to a certificate attesting that no entry exists or that an entry has been struck off.
Does the register publish shareholders and beneficial owners?
The registration itself records the associates other than shareholders (actionnaires) and limited partners, together with the persons authorised to manage and sign, and the register holds the company statutes deposited at the court registry. The Code's enumeration of registrable particulars contains no beneficial-owner category. The Company Records report resolves beneficial ownership by following the registered shareholders up the ownership chain from official filings.
